Force of Stillness
Force of Stillness, curated and produced by Amber Bemak, diversifies the representation of Buddhism by bringing together a prominent group of international artists to highlight the significant influence of Buddhism on the current direction of contemporary art. Presenting experimental film and performance, the work invests in sharing a complex range of meditative expression addressing, among other topics: visual colonization, gender performativity and construction, alternate experiences of temporality, and interactive experiments with meditation in public space.

This festival was presented at the Rubin Museum of Art on Nov 4 and 5, 2016 and will be presented for a second time at the Crow Museum of Art in Dallas, TX during Spring of 2020.

During the show, I was offered a generous grant from the Hemera Foundation to make a book about the festival and it's artists- stay posted it's on it's way!!! You can easily stay informed by liking our facebook page:

In the summer of 2016, I raised $10,000 using kickstarter to make the show happen. Check out my kickstarter campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1081353062/force-of-stillness-embodying-meditation-in-creativ?lang=es
